MAYA BE FOUNDATION
VALUING AND PRESERVING CULTURAL AND NATURAL HERITAGE
OUR COMMITMENT TO THE COMMUNITIES
Malinali Travel takes sustainability a step further by actively working for the conservation of Mexico’s cultural and natural heritage through the Maya-Be Foundation.
Since 2016 Maya-Be has been organizing workshops, trips, and exchanges for Mayan children and youth to learn about, value, and conserve their cultural and natural heritage, as the lack of historical knowledge and qualitative education, coupled with ethnic discrimination, has affected the self-esteem of Mayan youth, which is also reflected in their perception of their culture.
Our objectives
Revalue the Mayan culture, taking into account the historical past, which contributes to the preservation of the cultural heritage.
Increase ecological awareness for the conservation of the natural heritage.
Increase the self-esteem of Mayan children and youth, giving them hope that an inclusive and sustainable world is possible.

How do we work?
Maya-Be works with the “See, Think and Act” methodology, which allows us to promote the organization of actions for the preservation of cultural and natural heritage by children and young people.
1. Seeing: through trips and workshops, which allow them to learn about the cultural & natural heritage of the Mayan area.
2. Thinking: we reflect on what we have learned during the trips and workshops; after this reflection, we design actions to address local issues.
3. Acting: the necessary actions are carried out.
Our projects
Our projects
Learning about and value the cultural and natural heritage of the Mayan area.
The first step for children and young people to value their natural and cultural heritage is to have the opportunity to get close to it. That is why Maya-Be offers children:
- Classes and workshops on Mayan history and culture.
- Classes and workshops on environmental care and ecological awareness.
- Classes and workshops on the natural and plant kingdom of the Mayan Area.
- Visits to museums, archaeological sites, Mayan artisans’ houses, and other places of cultural interest.
- Excursions to nature reserves and orchards, as well as various ecological projects.
Intercommunity exchange
Establishing exchange relationships between individuals and between communities is a great enrichment. We learn from each other, taking into account each other’s achievements and difficulties. Through the exchange, you get to know the differences but also the similarities, thus appreciating what you have as well as knowing what you could improve. Going on exchange to another community is an excellent way to travel: you get to know other places and other people, which fosters human coexistence.
Learning and applying the Sustainable Development Goals.
Through workshops, children learn about the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda. They also analyze how to contribute to the achievement of these goals in their own communities, making them a reality according to their environment and context.
