Itinerary
DAY 1
Your day begins with an immersive visit to Taller Leñateros, a renowned editorial and artistic collective led by contemporary Maya creators. Here, art is born from the earth itself. You will learn about handmade paper crafted from natural fibers, traditional printing techniques, and the collective’s long-standing commitment to preserving Indigenous languages, stories, and cosmologies through books and visual art. You are invited to participate hands-on, engaging directly with the creative process and the people behind it.
After this enriching encounter, you enjoy a locally sourced lunch at MUY Gallery, a vibrant cultural hub where Maya and Zoque artists gather to create, research, and reimagine artistic languages rooted in their territories. Through exhibitions, workshops, and community initiatives, MUY opens space for dialogue around themes deeply present in contemporary Indigenous life, such as spiritual ecology, defense of land, gender and sexual identity, migration, and evolving trans-territorial identities.
